 A man convicted of killing six people in Phoenix's "Serial Shooter" attacks has died in prison. Authorities say 40-year-old Dale Hausner was found unresponsive in his cell Wednesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour later.

Tomorrow marks the 23rd anniversary of the hottest day in Phoenix history. The high hit 122 on that day in 1990, and that caused a problem for air travelers. Sky Harbor spokeswoman Deborah Ostricher said it was not the heat that prevented the planes from taking off, despite what has turned into an urban legend.

The wildfire that caused the evacuation of residents from the town of Kearny Monday night is still not under control. The town of Kearny is 70 miles southeast of Florence.  Officials battling the wildfire in Kearny say the fire is now 5 percent contained.

A series of strong rain storms has prompted officials to lift fire restrictions in five Arizona National Forests, but the active monsoon season does not mean the fire danger is completely over. Fire restrictions will be lifted Wednesday in the Coconino, Kaibab, Prescott and Tonto National Forests in central and northern Arizona, and restrictions will be lifted on Friday in the Coronado National forest in the southeastern part of the state.

Extra clean up crews will be on the streets of Ahwatukee Saturday. They will be out there for several more days cleaning up the mess left behind by a storm earlier this week. So far city crews have removed more than 100 tons of trees, branches, leaves and other green waste as well as another three tons of debris.

Cardinals Opening Training Day Brings New Location, New Security Policies
A new location and new policies were part of opening training day for the Arizona Cardinals Friday.  The team will now be practicing at the University of Phoenix Stadium instead of at NAU. (Photo by Sarah Beckman-KJZZ) For 25 years the Cardinals trained at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, but now the team will practice where it plays its regular season games, at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Toll road opponents launched a petition drive Monday to prevent what they say would be motorists paying twice to drive on the same highway. Al Tracy said building new toll roads is one thing, but converting high occupancy vehicle lanes into toll lanes on Valley highways is another.
