A celebration after a victorious baseball game in the Mexican border city of Juárez was interrupted by gunfire, resulting in the death of ten people.

A police spokesman said gunman arrived at a house party in the eastern outskirts of the city Sunday night and opened fire with AK-47 rifle. Nine people died on site, another shortly after arriving at a local hospital. The youngest victim was a 7-year-old girl. The motive for the killings is undetermined.

A similar massacre 2010, prompted a visit by then-President Felipe Calderon. That year in Juárez more than 3,000 people died during an eruption of drug violence.

Since then, the murder rate has been on a steady decline. So far this year, police report 335 homicides.
