Tempe officials want to know what residents think about proposals to reduce the speed limit on four roads.

Changes could be implemented in late summer.

The roads in question are First Street, and Mill, College and Southern avenues. Each could see a speed-limit reduction of between 5 and 10 miles per hour.

Tempe officials say slowing traffic on Southern Avenue would create a consistent speed zone across the city.

They say dropping the speed limit on the north end of Mill Avenue would match it with Town Lake bridge.

Key goals are to prevent road rage incidents and have speed limits that match surrounding development.

Virtual and in-person meetings to review the proposals are scheduled for May 15, when a two-week window opens for people to comment.
