Planned Parenthood Arizona has announced it will restart medication abortion services at its Flagstaff location for a limited time.

The northern Arizona clinic had stopped all abortion services after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court nearly two years ago. 

"There is a shortage of medical staff throughout the state, specifically medical assistance, frontline staff and finding abortion providers is challenging," said Angela Florez, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona. She says its Flagstaff location had not been adequately staffed.

“Our intention was to be able to offer appointments on a weekly basis and right now we’re every other week and frankly we don't have the runway because of the decision last week for us to be able to make plans to do anything more," Florez said.

The state Supreme Court has ruled a law banning almost all abortions should go into effect.

Florez says medication abortion services will be provided at the Flagstaff location, at least until the 1864 law can be enforced.
