House Ethics Committee to hear complaint against Patterson on Tuesday

April 09, 2012

The Arizona House Ethics Committee is scheduled to meet tomorrow morning, to hear the complaint against Tucson Independent Daniel Patterson. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie reports.

MARK BRODIE: Patterson’s response to the committee’s investigative report is also due Tuesday. That report detailed instances of alleged unethical and abusive behavior, and recommended the House expel him. House Democratic Leader Chad Campbell, who tried to have the chamber vote to expel Patterson last week, says it’s time to move on.

CHAD CAMPBELL: I think at this point, let’s just get that meeting done, and move forward. The ethics report is pretty clear as to what needs to be done, and so I would hope and expect that the Ethics Committee takes the appropriate action.

BRODIE: The original ethics complaint signed on by most House Democrats stems from claims of alleged domestic violence involving Patterson’s then-girlfriend. Patterson has denied wrongdoing, and has pleaded not guilty in Tucson city court to misdemeanor domestic violence charges.
